BACKGROUND

The time-honored practice of yoga remains as relevant today as it did thousands of years ago. Around the globe, studios and ashrams are dedicated to helping people apply the mental, spiritual and physical philosophies of yoga to their daily lives. In sacramento, California, ZUda yoga does just that. since opening its doors in 2007, the studio has become one of the most highly acclaimed and well attended in northern California.

OBJECTIVE

As its clientele grew, the staff at ZUDA quickly recognized the responsibility it had to be mindful of both the studio’s environmental impact and the health of its guests. Eliminating a bulky water jug and the sale of single-use plastic water bottles in favor of a more eco-friendly solution seemed like the perfect first step, both for the studio’s clients and the environment. Hence, ZUDA’s first green initiative was born.

SOLUTION

The studio had the Brita® Hydration Station® installed in a highly visible location to raise awareness and encourage usage, and it paid off. “Initial feedback was great,” said Amanda, a yoga instructor at ZUDA. “People were happy to have it and thought it was ‘cool.’ ” Even though the studio lost the profits it had earned on plastic bottled water sales, the positive ecological impact was worth it. “we are playing a small part in sa ving the environment,” said amanda.

RESULTS
